Realistically re-incarnating the flamboyantly retro first female celebrity chef Fanny Cradock, Sue demonstrated Fanny’s love of spice, making authentic Green Pullau and Coconut curry. These South Indian recipes were those that Fanny learnt from “dear little Mrs Tarla Darlal “ ~ India’s best-selling cookery author ~ when she and Johnny visited India in the 1970’s.

One of the crowd-drawing highlights of the day was food historian Dr Sue’s rendition of the late Fanny Craddock. Donning her elegantly eccentric outfit, she demonstrated her 1960s cookery skills by creating an Eel shaped cake.. “It added a real flamboyancy and she was a delight to watch,” Tracey added. “Perfect for people who didn’t remember Fanny Craddock and a great treat for those who did.”

With a series of characterful practical demonstrations as Fanny, Sue explored the history of jelly and how science and food can be brought together to lead to loads of wobbly, fruit-flavoured fun.
As Fanny, Sue made jellies in retro aluminium bunny rabbit jelly moulds, so familiar to children of the 1960s and 1970s, and children made jelly spheres.

Prolific food and travel writer Sudi Pigott hosted Sue plus writer Anna Sulan Masing and Sous Chef owner Nicola Lando. To finish was a chocolate meditation with Meredith Whitely – Food at Heart.
